Type:— BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro, Schott s.n. (lectotype W!, designated here; isolectotypes F!, W!). Remaining syntype:— BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro, Sellow s.n. (syntype B †) .
Notes:—In describing Eugenia grandifolia, Berg (1857) cited two syntypes, Sellow s.n. ( B) and Schott s.n. ( W). The specimen Schott s.n. ( W) has been designated as the lectotype of Eugenia grandifolia , once the syntype from B (Sellow s.n.) has been destroyed.
Distribution:— Eugenia grandifolia is known only from Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil.
