Remarks: The classification used here for the Ptilonyssus sairae complex is that of P ence and C asto (1976). They found that most of the morphological characteristics used to determine species in the sairae complex were unstable and subject considerable variation. Their system synonomizes many closely related forms into one species, Ptilonyssus sairae .
