Gonostylus longer than inner gonocoxal process, basally broad and twisted, long setae on basomedial surface; sharply pointed, triangular subapical gonostylar dorsal process bearing many long setae on medial surface, 1/2 length of gonostylus from apex; apical 1/2 of gonostylus broad long lobe, distinctly recurved flattened flange dorsomedially, appearing as inverted L-shape laterally, cup-shaped on medial surface, bearing a few short dark setae ventrally. Hypandrium large, ovoid, fused to gonocoxae laterally and ventrally. Distiphallus short, broad, apically forming two narrow lobes that curve ventrally, laterally with broad flanges covered with rows of small setiferous teeth, narrow ventrally-directed lobe forming distinct beak ventrally; dorsal apodeme of parameral sheath forked with arms curved over basiphallus, dorsal arms almost length of ejaculatory apodeme; ventral apodeme of parameral sheath long, 2/3 length ejaculatory apodeme; ejaculatory apodeme broad anteriorly; lateral ejaculatory process narrow band-like; base of ejaculatory apodeme linear, narrowing apically.

Distribution ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 47 – 49 ). Collessiama damani has been collected in rainforest and sclerophyll eucalypt forests east of the Great Dividing Range in south-eastern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales. The specimens collected from Burleigh Heads in the 1950’s may indicate the presence of coastal rainforests that have been overcome by development since their collection.

Etymology. Collessiama damani is named for Damian ‘Da Man’ White who helped Narelle Power collect many of the specimens ( Power, 1998).

Comments. Collessiama damani is easily distinguished from Collessiama narelleae by the diagnostic characters, especially the lack of the medial orange infuscation on the wings.
