Chamobates borealis Weigmann 2006, p. 401 View Cited Treatment , fig. 215a-d.
Chamobates borealis Seniczak et al. 2019, p. 2415 , figs 2-6.
Parco Naturale delle Alpi Marittime: AB very numerous, FAG, PAL numerous.
General distribution: Northern, southern Italy; Italian, Austrian Alps; Holarctic.
Habitat preferences: euryoecious, primarily silvicolous.
Remarks: Body size 340 x 225 µm. A synonymy with Ch. pusillus was proposed by Mahunka & Mahunka-Papp (1995), an action that several authors followed subsequently. Seniczak et al. (2019) rejected this synonymy based on morphological characters, mitochondrial gene COI sequence data and morphological ontogeny which indicate clearly that Ch. borealis is different from Ch. pusillus and it is a “ bona species ”.
