Description. Integument dark brown; antennae and legs brownish red. Body (except urosternites) covered with setae that are scale-like, short, stout, capitated, and yellowish. Head coarsely and sparsely punctate. Mentum transverse. Apical segment of the maxillary and labial palps acuminate. Antennae reaching middle of elytra, with a few long whitish hairs. Pronotum and sides of prothorax with coarse, dense microsculptured punctures. Prosternum finely and sparsely punctate; intercoxal process with dense, whitish pubescence. Intercoxal process of prosternum and mesosternum at most 1/3 as broad as coxal cavity. Base of elytra as wide as posterior margin of prothorax and with four small spines, one near each epipleura ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) and one on each side of the scutellum ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). Elytral surface irregular, with sparse, short, brown, erect setae, whitish on apical third; punctation dense, coarse and deep; six gibbosities, two antemedian, two median, and two (more prominent) postmedian; apices conjointly rounded. Legs with sparse whitish setae. Abdomen shiny, finely and shallowly punctate, and with few whitish hairs. Fifth urosternite rounded at apex.
Measurements, in mm. Total length, 3.6; prothorax length, 0.8; prothorax width, 1.2; elytral length, 2.4; humeral width, 0.9.
Type material. Holotype, BRAZIL, São Paulo: São José Barreiro (Serra da Bocaina, 165 m), XI.1969 (Seabra & Oliveira leg.) ( MNRJ). Paratype: same locality, I.1969 (Alvarenga leg.) ( MNRJ).
