Distribution: India: Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya. Elsewhere: China (Yunnan), Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand.
Note: The type species Hyperaeschra collaris was placed as a synonym of Allodonta sikkima ( Moore, 1879) (now valid as Hexafrenum sikkima ) by Savela (2019). Further investigations revealed that Schintlmeister (2013) erected Hexafrenum collaris as a valid species, therefore it is now being added to the existing list of Indian Notodontidae . Furthermore, previous distributions were only from NE India. Our primary data adds Western and Central Himalayan distribution for the species.
