Material examined. None.

Distribution. WesternAtlantic—Bermuda, USA (North Carolina, Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Venezuela, Antilles, Suriname, and Brazil (Sergipe, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul) ( Williams 1984; Abele & Kim 1986; Melo 1996, 1998, 2008; Souza 1997; Serejo et al. 2006; Felder et al. 2009; Boos et al. 2012; Mendonça et al. 2019).

Remarks. The recent record to Brazil ( Felder et al. 2009; Boos et al. 2012) cited Melo (1996, 1998), which assumed a continuous distribution (Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul) without analyzed material. Four samples from 7 to 27m deep were collected in Rio de Janeiro ( Melo 2008), in addition to other four animals from Rio Grande do Sul ( Souza 1997). The occurrence in the state of Santa Catarina was considered by extension of records previously mentioned in publications ( Boos et al. 2012). We suggest that the existence in São Paulo, which is close to these states, is probable. This species is found between 60 and 640 m ( Melo 2008), being difficult to sample.
