Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♀, CCDB 6417 , Ubatuba, offshore, colls. D. Rosa & F. Zara, x.2019 .

Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (North Carolina, Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda, Antilles, Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Amapá, Pará, Maranhão, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo) ( Coelho & Ramos 1972; Galil & Clark 1996; Melo & Veloso 2005; Coelho Filho 2006; Serejo et al. 2006; Almeida & Coelho 2008; Tamburus et al. 2019).

Remarks. Cryptosoma balguerii was recently collected on the coast of the São Paulo state and had its identity confirmed by morphological and molecular data according to Tamburus et al. (2019). Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 6417—16S ( MN239506 ), COI ( MN241497 ) ( Tamburus et al. 2019).
