Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (North Carolina, Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Colombia, Antilles, Guianas, Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul), and Uruguay ( Williams et al. 1968; Powers 1977; Williams 1984; Abele & Kim 1986; Bordin 1987; Campos & Manjarés 1991; Barreto et al. 1993; Souza 1997; Barros & Pimentel 2001; Nizinski 2003; Melo 2008, 2010; Felder et al. 2009).
Remarks. Previous records to São Paulo include Ubatuba ( Nucci & Melo 2012) and Caraguatatuba ( Braga et al. 2005).
