Mithraculus sculptus ( Lamarck, 1818)

Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♂, CCDB 5091 , Ilhabela, Ilha dos Búzios , coll. F. Zara, 10.iv.2013 .

Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (Florida, Gulf of Mexico), Antilles, Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Rio Grande do Norte to Bahia, São Paulo) ( Melo 1996; Coelho et al. 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Camargo et al. 2010).

Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo include Ubatuba ( Camargo et al. 2010), Ilha Vitória ( Alves et al. 2012a), and Ilhabela, Ilha dos Búzios ( Assugeni et al. 2017), officially specifying the collecting point here. This species was recorded in Brazil as Mithrax sculptus (see Coelho et al. 2008 for references). Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 5091—16S ( MF490194 ), COI ( MF490100 ) ( Mantelatto et al. 2018a).
