Euprognatha rastellifera Stimpson, 1871 View in CoL
Euprognatha rastellifera Stimpson, 1871: 123 View in CoL . Material examined. None.
Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA, ranging from off Georges Bank, Antilles, Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul), and Uruguay ( Coelho & Ramos 1972; Williams 1984; Barreto et al. 1993; Melo 1996; Nizinski, 2003; Campos et al. 2005; Santana & Tavares 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Pachelle et al. 2016).
Remarks. Several records on the off coast of São Paulo were obtained during the Revizee—Score Sul Program and details of the samples were reported by Santana & Tavares (2008). These authors also stated that Euprognatha acuta (the most common entity previously mentioned in the literature) is junior synonym of E. rastellifera . Considering that the type of E. rastellifera is not extant ( Rathbun, 1925: 96), they designated the lectotype and paralectotypes.
