Distribution:— India [Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal], Australia, Cambodia, Laos, Malesia, Myanmar, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Vanuatu and Vietnam. Native and also widely cultivated; 0–1000 m.

Notes:—Rheede’s icon was chosen as the type because it was cited by Linnaeus and the drawing clearly depicts the taxon as recognised today.
