TYPE MATERIAL — Holotype, Papua New Guinea. ♂, New Guinea, Mt. Suckling, 500m, Mayu I, 13-16.VII.1972, J. L Gressitt, Malaise Trap, Bishop Museum ( BPBM). Paratypes. Papua New Guinea. NE New Guinea, Wau, Hospital Ck, J. Sedlacek, Malaise Trap, Bishop, 2♂ 1250m, 22. V.1965, ( BPBM); 1♂ 1150-1250m, 27.I.1966 ( BPBM).
DESCRIPTION — MALE: Body length 1.7-2.7 mm. Head and mesosoma castaneous or dark castaneous; metasoma castaneous. Head (Figure 49). Mandible with four apical teeth. Clypeus with median lobe subtrapezoidal; median tooth subangulate; median carina complete apically and straight in profile. Frons weakly coriaceous. Mesosoma. Pronotal disc with anterior margin ecarinate, weakly coriaceous. Metapectal-propodeal complex with lateral and posterior areas partly carinate. Metasoma (Figure 147). Tergal process absent. Hypopygium (Figures 237-238) with median stalk evenly narrow, 1.25 x as long as hypopygial plate; lateral stalk triangular; posterior margin weakly concave, with angled projection. Genitalia (Figures 433-436). Aedeagal dorsal body with apex lower than parameral apex, wider basally, narrowing abruptly apicad; apex with small, narrow and smooth projection on ventral region. Aedeagal ventral ramus with apex lower than aedeagal dorsal body apex, very slightly bifurcated on apical region; apical region subangled and smooth. Genital ring strongly produced, each half straight in dorsal view.

ETYMOLOGY — The noun in apposition natnat means gnat in Tok Pisin.
