Nomenclatural notes: —Under Senecio View in CoL , the correct epithet for this species is pindilicensis View in CoL since the earlier heterophyllus View in CoL is unavailable because of the existence of the earlier name S. heterophyllus Thunberg (1800: 157) View in CoL .

We lectotypify the name S. pindilicensis Hieronymus (1894: 65) on the complete specimen K-000497739, which perfectly matches the protologue information of the species. The isolectotype MO-714304 is only a plant fragment (one capitulum) along with a picture of the destroyed specimen that was kept at B, and therefore scantly taxonomically informative.
