Type material. Holotype: PANAMA: Panama Oeste: ♀, Barro Colorado Island [9.1636, ‑79.8378], Canal Zone, 1–4 July 1950, A.M. Chickering leg. ( MCZ 99617). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The specific name honors Dr. James Zeteki, Founding Director of the Canal Zone Biological Area, located on Barro Colorado Island in Panama; name in genitive case.

Diagnosis. Females of M. zeteki comb. nov. resemble those of M. sanctivincenti comb. nov. ( Figs 250–252 View FIGURES 250–252 ) and M. tapirapeco spec. nov. ( Figs 257–259 View FIGURES 253–259 ) by the epigyne with EP opening medially on MS. They are distinguished from both species by the epigyne with transversal anterior groove, MS with anterior margins bottlenecked ( Fig. 309 View FIGURES 309–311 ) and by the vulva with FW postero laterad, liver-shaped ( Figs 310–311 View FIGURES 309–311 ) (anterior groove absent in the latter species; MS with lateral margins diverging and FW posteriad in M. sanctivincenti comb. nov.; MS with anterior margins gently converging and FW U-shaped and laterad in M. tapirapeco spec. nov.). Males are unknown.

Description. Female (holotype): Total length 18.8. Prosoma 6.9 long, 6.2 wide. Opisthosoma 11.5 long, 7.3 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.50, 0.40, 0.33, 0.37; interdistances: 0.40, 0.24, 0.65, 0.70, 0.35, 0.25. Legs: I: 26.8 (7.7, 3.2, 7.0, 7.1, 1.8); II: 28.6 (8.3, 3.5, 7.5, 7.4, 1.9); III: 19.6 (6.4, 2.7, 4.9, 4.7, 1.6); IV: 24.0 (7.5, 2.6, 6.0, 6.0, 1.9). Spination follows the generic pattern except metatarsus IV: r1-1-2. Epigyne: EF wider than long; MAB present, embedded in epigynal field; MS longer than wide, roughly drop-shaped; EP roughly as long as wide with lateral margins extending posteriorly to lateral margins of MS ( Fig. 309 View FIGURES 309–311 , 313 View FIGURES 313–314 ). Vulva: GP longer than wide, antero-mediad; SP elongate with few surface folds; FD antero-mediad ( Figs 310–311 View FIGURES 309–311 , 314 View FIGURES 313–314 ).

Male: Unknown.

Distribution. Only known from the type locality ( Fig. 317 View FIGURES 315–318 ).
