Cicada bilaqueata Uhler 1903: 7 View in CoL . (Chapada, Brazil)

REMARKS. The species has been associated with the Chaco floristic province in Argentina ( Sanborn & Heath 2014). It can be distinguished from A. nigrovittata Distant, 1905d by the larger body size (greater than 30 mm vs. about 28 mm), a head and thorax that is only marked with piceous rather than being mainly piceous, and the lack of a transverse piceous fascia on the anterior pronotal collar.

DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, French Guiana, and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013; 2016c; Sanborn & Heath 2014). The species was recently added to the Bolivian cicada fauna ( Sanborn 2016c).
