Carineta cearana Distant, 1906c View in CoL new record
Carineta cearana Distant 1906c: 153 View in CoL . (Ceará, Brazil)
REMARKS. Another of the Carineta species with infuscation in the fore wing. The infuscation is found on the distal fore wing cubital cell and clavus of the fore wing and distal hind wing apical cell 3, distal anal cell 1 and wing margin of the hind wing in C. cearana , but is found on the apical cells of both fore wing and hind wings along with distal anal cell 3 of the hind wing in both C. boliviana and C. lydiae , is restricted to the distal hind wing apical cells and distal apical cell 3 in C. boulardi , as a central fuscous spot near the distal hind wing radial cell along with a marginal series of linear spots in the fore wings of C. centralis , and at the wing bases in proximal fore wing and hind wing cells extending to distal hind wing anal cell 3 through anal cell 1 in C. illustris . Sanborn (2016b) described and illustrated the difference between C. cearana and C. illustris .
DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported from previously only from French Guiana ( Metcalf 1963c; Sanborn 2016b). The new record for Colombia increases the distribution of the species further. The Colombian specimen was not available for the faunal analysis of that country ( Sanborn 2010b).
