Toxabramis houdemeri : Authors' data (Malim Nawar).
Remarks. Introduced species. We speculate that this species was introduced at least two or three decades ago, long enough for the rural communities to endow it with the unique vernacular name “Pimpin.” Since there are many aquaculture farms breeding carps of Chinese origin in Perak, we speculate that the species may have arrived together with the Chinese carps unintentionally in the form of stowaway fry. Specimens we encountered were identified following Nichols (1943) and Lim & Kwik (2012).
