Diagnosis. Pronotal basal margin bordered (sometimes border interrupted or indistinct medially or laterally). Elytra without row of discal pores on intervals 1, 3, 5 and 7. Protibia with three (rarely two) ventroapical spines arranged in a transverse row. Tarsomere 5 with spines ventrally (in addition to thin setae and hairs) (Fig. 10).
Composition. This species group includes only the Palaearctic H. calceatus .
