Type material. Lectotype (present designation): ♂, labeled "G. Boyan SuSu (Mn) 23/VII.97 Grombchev" [in Cyrillic], " Eous m. Typ. Tschitscherin det." ( ZIN). Paralectotypes: 4 ♂, 1 ♀, same data as preceding ( ZIN); 1 ♀, "Salidugan 10–20.VII.90 Komarov" [in Cyrillic], " Eous m. Typ. Tschitscherin det." ( ZIN), 1 ♂, "M. Salidugan i Erdugan 10–20.VII.96 Komarov" [in Cyrillic], " Eous m. Typ. Tschitscherin det." ( ZIN), 1 ♀, "Vlsdsk., 7.90", " Eous m., Typ. Tschitscherin det." ( ZIN).

Additional material examined. More than 420 specimens (140 from China), including the following specimens from Hubei and Hunan. China. HUBEI: 1 ♂, Shennongjia, 1650 m, 12.VII.1980, Yu Peiyu leg. ( IOZ); 2 ♀, same data as preceding, but 1800 m, 2.VIII.1981, Han Yinheng leg. ( IOZ). HUNAN: 1 ♂, Quyuan Nongchang (farm), 18.VI.1987, no collector ( IOZ).

Diagnosis. This species is recognizable by combination of the following characters: head large, tempora setaceous, pronotum with several lateral setae along sides, and elytra densely punctate and pubescent on all intervals, without row of discal pores on intervals 1, 3, 5 and 7. Median lobe of aedeagus ( Figs 13–14 View FIGURES 11 – 14 ) has several somewhat large spiny patches in the internal sac. Body length 12.5–14.8 mm.

Distribution. China: mainly in the north-eastern and central parts. It was recorded from Nei Mongol, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Beijing, Hebei, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Hunan ( Liang & Yu 2000; Kataev et al. 2003), and Hubei ( Hua 2002). Additional localities from Hubei and Hunan are listed above.

The species is also known from Eastern Russia (Buryatia, Chita and Amur Provinces, Khabarovsk and Maritime Territories), North and South Korea including Jejudo, and Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Sikoku, and Kyushu Islands) ( Habu 1973; Lafer 1989; Kryzhanovskij et al. 1995; Kataev 1997; Kataev et al. 2003; Moon & Paik 2006).
