Original data: “ TANGANYIKA: Handeni, 350 m., 25/ 27.IV.1957. Holotype mâle au Musée Royal de l’Afrique Centrale ” ( Villiers 1962: 465) .

Non-type: 1 ♂: “ PARATYPE ” // “ COLL. MUS. CONGO Tanganyika Terr.: Handeni 350 m. 25/ 27-IV-1957 ” // “Mission Zoolog. I. R.S.A.C. en Afrique orientale (P. Basilewsky et N. Leleup)” // “ Pachysandalus schoutedeni n. sp. A. Villiers det 1961” [hw Villiers] .

Type locality: Tanganyika : Handeni [ Tanzania] .

Current status: Valid species ( Coscarón 2002: 35–36).

Remarks: Villiers (1962: 465) designated a holotype for this species; it is now deposited in RMCA. No paratypes were mentioned. A single male deposited in the MNHN is from the same locality as the holotype, but since it was not listed in the original description, it has no type status, with no regard to the paratype label it bears.
