Afrotropical: 1) Eswatini, 2) Kenya, 3) Malawi, 4) Mozambique, 5) South Africa, 6) Tanzania, 7) Zambia, 8) Zimbabwe ( Yeoman & Walker 1967, Walker 1974, Keirans 1985b, Tandon 1991, Walker et al. 2000, Morel 2003, Horak et al. 2018, Ledger et al. 2021, Olivieri et al. 2021).
Neumann (1901) described Rhipicephalus maculatus from ticks allegedly collected on an insect in Cameroon, but that was a case of mislabeling, and Rhipicephalus maculatus is not found in Cameroon, as explained in Morel (2003).
