Diagnosis. In forewing markings, A. hilara is similar to A. pyrozona (Meyrick) , but A. hilara has a paler posterior one-third of the forewing marked with several small spots. Acailandica hilara differs from A. acailandiae chiefly by the dorsoposterior edge of the basal blotch which is perpendicular to the dorsum in the foremer.

Description. Head: Grey. Thorax: Grey, tinged brown posteriorly, whitish grey ventrally. Wing span 10 mm. Forewing ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 7 – 14 ) weakly expanding terminad; costa slightly convex; termen distinctly convex beneath postapical concavity; ground colour orange, paler, more yellowish in submedian area; costal strigulae white; divisions and markings dark brown; basal blotch perpendicular to dorsum of wing, incised dorsosubcostally; tornal markings consisting of spots and strigulae; termen finely edged brown; large median blotch of mid-termen extending towards costa. Cilia creamish, brown at mid-termen and tornus. Hindwing pale orange, broadly edged with brown on peripheries, sprinkled with same colour basally. Cilia cream, tinged orange towards anal area. Abdomen: Male unknown. Female genitalia ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ) with anteostial sterigma forming two lateroproximal, shallow pockets; postostial sterigma broad, submembranous; sclerite of antrum weak, one-third length of ductus dursae; cingulum slender; ductus seminalis from mid-distance between the latter and corpus bursae; a single moderately large signum.

Etymology. The name refers to the colouration of the adult; Greek: hilara - merry colouration.
