Remarks. The photograph of the holotype of Smodicum miserum Thomson, 1878 ( Fig. 2c ) provided by G. Tavakilian (MNHN) from “Sancto-Domingo”, matches Enosmaeus cubanus Thomson which was described in the same work ( Fig. 2d ). The structure of the pronotum, elytra, antennae, and femora all are virtually identical in the two, along with the size and other attributes in the original descriptions. Therefore, Smodicum miserum Thomson is a new synonym of Enosmaeus cubanus Thomson.
