Identification. Alocasia principiculus differs from all the A. princeps complex in its small overall size, greygreen, thin, leathery leaves, relatively long peduncles, and the male zone is held entirely within the lower spathe chamber ( Hay 1998).

Distribution and ecology. Endemic to Borneo: Sabah and East Kalimantan. Confined to limestone; growing in soil pockets on limestone outcrops and boulders under mixed lowland dipterocarp forest, at ca. 600 m elev.
