Lechriops oblongulus Champion, 1906:92 View in CoL .
Diagnosis. Black , except tibiae, rostrum and alternate elytral intervals reddish brown; more or less uniformly covered with tan setae, setae larger and elongate on pronotum, hair-like and white in elytral striae, white setae sparsely scattered, except condensed in conspicuous chevron-shaped spot on first two elytral intervals along suture just beyond the middle and small lateral spot on eighth interval, more frequent on ventral surface and legs, narrow sublateral line of white setae on pronotum in Arizona populations; irregular line of dark brown setae on either side of midline of pronotum; rostrum glabrous; 2.9–3.2 mm long (mean ¼ 3.02 mm for 10 specimens) .
Pronotum with lateral margins very weakly arcuate, almost / subparallel, inconspicuously carinate, / slightly wider than long. Elytra about 1 3 broader than pronotum, elongate, about 1 3 longer than wide, somewhat depressed across suture before middle. Abdomen with first ventral sternite and anterior portion of second sternite convex in female, deeply, broadly concave in male, the second sternite abruptly delclivous near apex in / both sexes. Posterior femora with moderately strong tooth on inner margin at apical 2 3. Aedeagus narrowly obovate, thicker at base, apex acuminate-truncate, arcuate from side ( Fig. 3 View Figs ).

Discussion. Champion (1906) noted the similarity of L. oblongulus to L. californicus . Lechriops oblongulus is very uniformly colored above, other than the sutural spot on the elytra. Males of the two species differ conspicuously in secondary sexual charactreristics and in genitalia. Arizona populations possess narrow sublateral lines of white setae on pronotum, whereas those in Durango lack them.
