Clavatula View in CoL juliae group

We unite here two moderately large species, which are characterized by a broad conical coronate spire, a strongly constricted and strongly concave base leading to a long siphonal canal. Early teleoconch sculpture is bipartite with faint (‘ C. ’ jarzynkae) or prominent (‘ C. ’ juliae ) opisthocline riblets on broad mid-portion. The columella is more broadly excavated than in most other clavatulids. The bipartite early teleoconch whorls distinguish this group from Megaclavatula . The long siphonal canal and the opisthocline riblets on early teleoconch whorls allow a separation from Clavatula . The last whorl profile separates the ‘ Clavatula juliae group from other bipatite groups such as the bimarginata -clade and the ‘ Clavatula camillae group, which differ in their slender fusiform profile.
