Polycentropus Curtis View in CoL
Polycentropus Curtis, 1835 View in CoL : Pl. 544.
Type species: Polycentropus irroratus Curtis , original designation.
Amathus Stephens, 1833: 119 (synonymized by Stephens, 1836: 176).
Type species: all included species are nomina nuda according to Fischer, 1962: 18).
Austrecnomina Korboot, 1964: 48 (synonymized by Neboiss, 1987: 137).
Type species: Austrecnomina kenampi Korboot , original designation.
Placocentropus Schmid, 1955: 131 (synonymized by Schmid, 1964: 319).
Type species: Placocentropus obtusus Schmid , original designation.
Diagnosis: Forewings with closed discoidal and median cells, hind wings each with an open discoidal cell. Venation as in diagnosis of genus cluster, except some species are without apical fork 1 in the hind wings. Species with closed discoidal cell in each hind wing are recorded from the Nearctic Region and are still classified as Polycentropus sensu lato, but this character is otherwise found in Plectrocnemia species. The gonopods are mostly robust, short or long.
