Neucentropus Martynov View in CoL
Neucentropus Martynov, 1907: 18 View in CoL .
Type species: Neucentropus mandjuricus Martynov , monotypic.
Kyopsyche Tsuda, 1942: 259 , 263 (synonymized by Li et al. 1998: 669).
Type species: Kyopsyche japonica Tsuda , original designation.
Diagnosis: The maxillary palps each have the 2nd segment much shorter than the 3rd segment; the 3rd segment is inserted subapically and laterally on the 2nd segment. Hind wings each have apical forks 2, 3, and 5, with apical fork 1 absent.
Remarks: Martynov (1907) established this monotypic genus with the following character combination: forewings each lack crossvein c -sc; and the hind wings each lack apical fork 1. The hind wing fork 3 is absent in males but present in females of N. mandjuricus Martynov. The genus is distributed in the eastern part of the Palaearctic Region and in the Oriental Region and includes only 2 known species: N. mandjuricus from China (Mandchuria) and Vietnam, and N. japonicus (Tsuda) from Japan. Neucentropus japonicus is a synonym of N. mandjuricus Martynov according to Arefina 1997 (as Neureclipsis ), and according to Tanida et al. 1999, but not a synonym according to Li et al. 1998. Neucentropus is a synonym of Neureclipsis according to Arefina, 1997, but not a synonym according to Li et al. 1998.
