Phyllocoptruta sanguisorbae n. sp. ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 )
Female: (n = 19) Body fusiform, 230 long, 75 wide, 75 thick; light yellow in color. Gnathosoma 25, projecting obliquely down. Prodorsal shield 60 long, 72 wide; prodorsal shield with frontal lobe; median and admedian lines connected by transverse line at basal 1/3 and 2/3, submedian lines absent. Dorsal tubercles ahead of rear margin, 22 apart, scapular setae (sc) 7 projecting dorsomediad. Sternal line present. Coxal area smooth; anterolateral setae on coxisternum I (1b) 7, proximal setae on coxisternum I (1a) 18, proximal setae on coxisternum II (2a) 30. Legs I 35 long, femur 12, basiventral femoral setae (bv) 13; genu 5 long, antaxial genual setae (l'') 32 long; tibia 9, paraxial tibial setae (l') 8, setae located 2/3 from dorsal base; tarsus 7 long; tarsal empodium simple, 7rayed, tarsal solenidion tapered. Legs II 31 long, femur 10, basiventral femoral setae (bv) 12; genu 5 long, antaxial genual setae (l'') 8 long; tibia 8; tarsus 7 long; tarsal empodium simple, 7rayed, tarsal solenidion tapered. Dorsal opisthosoma with 43 annuli, smooth, ventrally with 74 microtuberculate rings. Setae c2 25 on ventral annulus 10; setae d 50 on ventral annulus 26; setae e 27 on ventral annulus 47; setae f 25 on 6th ventral annulus from rear. Setae h1 5 long. Female genitalia 13 long, 25 wide, coverflap with 10 to 12 longitudinal ridges, proximal setae on coxisternum III (3a) 35 long.
Male: (n = 2) 260 long, 52 wide; genitalia 5 long, 23 wide, proximal setae on coxisternum III (3a) 18 long.
Type data: Holotype, female, from Sanguisorba officinalis L. ( Rosaceae ), Wutaishan mountain, Shanxi Province, P.R. China, 26 August 2004, coll. X.F. Xue. Paratypes, 18 females and 2 males, with the same data as holotype.
Relation to host: Vagrant on the leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.
Etymology: The specific designation is derived from the generic name of the host plant, Sanguisorba .
Note: This species is similar to Phyllocoptruta paniculata Huang, 2001 , but differs from the latter in that the prodorsal shield has a median line, tarsal empodium is simple and 7rayed, tarsal solenidion tapered distally and coverflap with 10 to 12 longitudinal ridges.
