Aneuclis devriesi Khalaim , sp. nov.
( Figs 32–36 View FIGURES 32–36 )
Comparison. Aneuclis devriesi is similar to another Vietnamese species, A. achterbergi , as both have head with occipital carina widely interrupted mediodorsally, but differs in having robust flagellum with 16 flagellomeres ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 32–36 ), granulate and dull vertex ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 32–36 ), longer temple, interstitial second recurrent vein (2 m-cu) ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 32–36 ), propodeum with pointed anteriorly apical area and short basal keel ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 32–36 ), and evenly upcurved ovipositor with two sharp dorsal subapical teeth ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 32–36 ).
Description. Female. Body length 3.1 mm. Fore wing length 2.25 mm.
Head strongly tapered, weakly rounded behind eyes in dorsal view; temple 0.65× as long as eye width ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 32–36 ). Clypeus 4.0× as broad as long, slightly convex in lateral view, smooth in lower half and very finely punctate on dull background in upper half, separated from face by shallow and broad impression. Mandible slender, with upper tooth much longer than lower tooth. Malar space flat, about 1.1× as long as basal mandibular width. Antennal flagellum robust, filiform, with 16 flagellomeres ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 32–36 ); subbasal flagellomeres about 1.3× and subapical flagellomeres 1.1–1.2× as long as broad. Face, frons and vertex granulate, impunctate, dull. Temple impunctate, shining, smooth centrally and very shallowly granulate peripherally. Occipital carina complete laterally and absent mediodorsally.
Mesoscutum granulate, dull, impunctate. Scutellum with lateral longitudinal carinae present in its extreme base. Notaulus with wrinkle. Foveate groove extending in anterior half of mesopleuron, strongly oblique, broad, shallow, with very fine transverse wrinkles. Mesopleuron predominantly granulate and impunctate, centrally (above foveate groove) punctate on almost smooth and weakly shining background. Propodeum entirely granulate, dull, impunctate. Basal keel of propodeum 0.3× as long as apical area ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 32–36 ). Propodeal spiracle small, separated from pleural carina by about 4.0× diameter of spiracle. Apical area slightly impressed along midline, pointed anteriorly ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 32–36 ); apical longitudinal carinae weak, reaching transverse carina anteriorly.
Fore wing ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 32–36 ) with second recurrent vein (2 m-cu) interstitial, weakly pigmented in anterior 0.6. Intercubitus (2 rs-m) moderately long. First abscissa of radius (Rs +2 r) straight, slightly longer than width of pterostigma. First and second sections of radius (Rs +2 r and Rs ) meeting at right angle. Metacarpus (R 1) short, running about 0.6 way from distal end of Rs and apex of fore wing. Second abscissa of postnervulus completely absent, thus brachial cell is widely open posteriorly. Hind wing with nervellus (cu 1& cu-a) weakly reclivous. Legs slender. Hind femur 4.8× as long as broad. Hind tibia 0.95× as long as femur.
First tergite slender, 4.2× as long as posteriorly broad, round in cross-section centrally, smooth, with small round glymma in its centre; petiole with very shallow furrow before glymma laterally, weakly separated from postpetiole in dorsal view. Second tergite almost twice as long as anteriorly broad. Thyridial depression about 2.5× as long as broad. Ovipositor slender, more or less evenly upcurved, with two sharp dorsal subapical teeth, its height at midlength subequal to width of hind basitarsus; sheath twice as long as first tergite.
Head, mesosoma and first metasomal segment black. Palpi and mandible yellow, mandibular teeth reddish. Clypeus reddish yellow in its lower 0.4. Scape and pedicel of antenna yellow ventrally and brown dorsally, flagellum entirely fuscous. Tegula dark brown. Pterostigma brown. Legs predominantly yellow to brownish yellow; mid and hind coxae darkened with brown (hind coxa brownish black basally), hind femur largely brown except yellowish base and apex. Metasoma behind first tergite yellowish brown ventrally to dark brown dorsally.
Male. Unknown.
Etymology. The species is named in honour of Robbert de Vries (Leiden), collector of the type material.
Material examined. Holotype female ( RMNH) North Vietnam, Hoa Binh [Hòa Bình] Prov., Pa Co, Hang Kia Nature Reserve, N 20°44ʹ36ʺ, E 104°53ʹ44ʺ, 1321 m, Malaise trap 8, 10–24.X.2009, coll. C. v. Achterberg & R. de Vries.
Distribution. Oriental species: North Vietnam.
