Features: Length 90–110 μm, width 22–30 μm, fibulae 7–9 in 10 μm, striae 14–16 in 10 μm.
Description: valves linear elliptic, constricted in the middle, with broadly cuneate apices. Raphe eccentric, fibulae evenly spaced. Valve face with longitudinal, hyaline, laterally spaced fold which interrupt transapical striae.
Remarks: This species is characterized by having an undulating valve surface and a hyaline strip void of puncta, normally more close to the keel margin.
Ecology and Distribution: Widely distributed marine species. Previously reported from various parts of the Gulf ( Hendey 1970, Simonsen 1974, Al-Handal 2009, Al-Yamani & Saburova 2011). Frequent in Basra corals.
