Tryblionella didyma (Hustedt) D.G. Mann (in Round et al. 1990: 678) ( Fig. 99 View FIGURES 91–102 )
References: Hustedt 1952, fig. 20; Liu et Chin 1980, fig. E. as Nitzschia didyma Hustedt (1952: 309)
Features: Length 60–73 μm, width 14–16 μm, fibulae 14–16 in 10 μm, striae 26–28 in 10 μm.
Description: Valves linear elliptic with shallowly constricted sides and broadly cuneate apices. Raphe eccentric, fibulae distinct, rectangular. Transapical striae interrupted by distinct, slightly lateral and elevated rib.
Remarks: Witkowski et al. (2000, figs 185: 1, 186: 14, 15) illustrated N. didyma but did not provide any description. Our specimens match those illustrations.
Ecology and Distribution: Limited distribution, found in Taiwan (Fujian Coast, Liu et Chin 1980) and China ( Liu 2008). Not recorded previously from the Gulf. Rare in Basra corals.
