Remarks
Orthoprotella mayeri K.H. Barnard 1916 [sensu lato] has been recorded from South Africaı Sydneyı New South Wales and Singapore (see McCain and Steinberg 1970). The close comparison of New South Wales specimens deposited at the Australian Museum with South African specimensı including holotypeı deposited at the South African Museum revealed that New South Wales specimens are a distinct species from the latterı known as Orthoprotella berentsae Takeuchi and Lowryı 2007b ( Takeuchi and Lowry 2007b). The description of maxilliped and pereonites 6 to 7 of O. berentsae agrees well with the generic diagnosis of Notoprotella gen. nov.
