Zarcosia schawalleri n. sp.

Etymology. The species is named after Wolfgang Schawaller, who collected the only known specimens.
Type locality. Malaysia, Sabah, Sandakan, Sepilok .
Distribution. Malayan Borneo ( Figure 1 View FIGURE 1 ).
Description. ( Figure 3k,l View FIGURE 3 ). Body length. ♂ holotype: 1.63 mm; ♀ paratype: 1.68 mm. Bicolor, head black, pronotum dark-brown and elytra orange with a broad dark transverse area, covered with short double pubescence.
Head. Transverse, wider than pronotum in both sexes, covered with short white pubescence. Integument black, punctation fine and very dense, rugose. Palpi orange, last article securiform. Eyes much bigger in ♂.
Antennae. Orange, slender, slightly longer than elytra in ♂, shorter than elytra in ♀, antennomere 3–7 at most twice longer than wide, 8–10 shorter. Covered with hirsute blond pubescence.
Pronotum ( Figure 6h View FIGURE 6 ). Narrow, subcylindrical in ♂, trapezoidal in ♀, as long as wide. Lateral constrictions in the posterior half, on each side. Finely and densely punctuated, space between points much smaller than the diameters of points. Integument mat, rugose. Covered with very short, white double pubescence.
Elytra. Length: ♂ holotype: 1.10 mm; ♀ paratype: 1.15 mm. Orange, with a broad dark area with no defined boundaries, spanning half of the elytral length, from anterior fifth to posterior third. Punctation dense but shallow, covered with double pubescence. Moderately convex, depressed on disc.
Legs. Gracile. Sexual characters: forelegs with first tarsomere enlarged in male, tibia bent inward ( Figure 5m View FIGURE 5 ); mesothoracic femora with a sharp apical thorn on their inner side, curved and pointing outward.
Aedeagus ( Figure 4n View FIGURE 4 ). Sides regularly convergent in dorsal view, with an apical button. Strongly bent in lateral view with a sudden apical deflection upward.
