Eremiothrips similis Bhatti, 1988, p. 120 View in CoL
This species was described from Iraq based on few specimens ( Bhatti 1988) but was collected subsequently in Iran ( Minaei 2012). In the absence of special processes on tergite IX the males are similar to those of E. bhattii View in CoL , E. manolachei View in CoL and E. farsi View in CoL , but they differ by having pore plates on sternites VI–VII ( Figure 30 View Figures 22–31 ). In contrast, pore plates are present on sternites III–VII in E. bhatti View in CoL , and IV–VII in E. farsi ( Minaei 2012) View in CoL and E. manolachei ( Bhatti 1988) View in CoL .
Wing polymorphism among Eremiothrips species is known only in E. negevi ( Ben-David 2017) , but at two localities in Saudi Arabia we found a micropterous male ( Figure 43 View Figures 38–45 ) together with macropterae of E. similis . These two males agree with all distinguishing features of E. similis , particularly in lacking paired processes on tergite IX and in the presence of pore plates on sternites VI–VII ( Figure 30 View Figures 22–31 ).
Measurements (male microptera). Body length 700. Head length 75, width 120; ocellar setae III 12. Pronotum length 75, width 125; posteroangular setae 22. Fore wing length 120. Antennal segments I–IX length: 12, 25, 30, 25, 25, 25, 12, 10, 10.
