TYPE LOCALITY: Russia, N Caucasus, Karachayevo-Cherkess Autonomous Region, upper North Klukhor River at Klukhor Pass, 2100 meters .

DISTRIBUTION: NW Caucasus; see Sokolov et al. (1987a).

COMMENTS: Sokolov et al. (1981 b, 1987b) gave karyological and phallic characters that distinguished this species from S. caucasico and S. concolor , S. armenica ( Sokolov and Baskevich, 1988) , and S. kazbegica ( Sokolov et al., 1986b) . See also comment under Sicista and in Corbet (1984:25).
