Characterization of Maudheimiidae View in CoL
Adults of the family Maudheimiidae is characterized by a weakly sclerotized cuticle; subcapitular mentum without tectum; lamella narrow, mostly without cusp, when present very small; tutorium narrow, mostly without cusp, when present very small; bothridium posteriorly partly covered by notogaster; narrow anterior notogastral tectum present; posterior notogastral tectum present; small octotaxic porose areas; pteromorph immovable, small; 10 or 15 pairs of notogastral setae present; custodium absent; six pairs of genital setae present; postanal porose area absent. Immatures unideficient; humeral organ present; gastronotal region with macro- and microsclerites; genital setation (protonymph to adult) 1-3-5-6.
