Description. Male (holotype). Body length 3.5 mm. Head brownish, pronotum reddish-brown; elytra brownish, with indication of reddish, transverse band in basal third; legs reddish-brown, antennae largely reddish, distinctly darker distally.
Head 1.1 times as long as wide, its base slightly produced medially, differentiated from short neck; tempora strongly narrowing posteriad, posterior angles absent. Eyes medium-sized, convex. Dorsal surface only moderately glossy, distinctly punctate and largely finely corrugated, base smooth and glossy; punctures distinctly separated. Setation short, subdecumbent; few longer tactile setae. Antennae moderately enlarged in terminal third; antennomere X 1.3 times, XI 2.1 times as long as wide.
Pronotum 1.4 times as long as wide, distinctly narrower than head including eyes, nearly evenly rounded anteriorly, strongly narrowed and moderately impressed (constricted) postero-laterally in dorsal view; pronotal disc evenly convex in lateral view. Surface glossy; antero-lateral margins minutely and sparsely punctate, nearly impunctate near procoxal cavities; disc more distinctly and densely punctate, especially posteriorly, with some weak transverse wrinkles before base; postero-lateral impressions distinctly longitudinally wrinkled, and adjacent dorso-lateral area rugose. Setation as on head.
Mesosternum with slight indication of median longitudinal bulge. Metasternum simple.
Elytra 1.6 times as long as wide, conjointly rounded apically; humeri distinct; postscutellar impression distinct, moderate. Surface glossy, distinctly punctate; punctation double, setiferous punctures rather widely separated. Setation nearly evenly developed, generally somewhat longer and more raised than on head, decumbent; scattered tactile setae.
Metathoracic wings fully developed.
Fore legs modified ( Figs 51, 52 View FIGURES 51 – 55 ); profemora with longer, subtruncate process, bearing fringe of stiff setae subapically; protibiae with pointed protrusion on median and angular lobule on lateral side; penultimate tarsomere widened/flattened distally, with terminal tarsomere articulated dorsally near base in all tarsi. Setation normally developed; pro- and mesotibiae with two, metatibiae with single terminal spur.
Abdominal sternum VII moderately emarginate, with small, median setose protuberance dorsally ( Fig. 53 View FIGURES 51 – 55 ). Tergum VII simple, subtruncate posteriorly. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 51 – 55 ); paired prongs with narrow, setose lobe laterally. Tergite VIII with simple paired sclerites nearly evenly rounded apically, narrowly connected medially. Terminal sclerite of segment IX (spiculum) membranous, evenly rounded apically. Aedeagus ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 51 – 55 ); apical portion of tegmen 0.5 times as long as basal-piece, with small lateral lobules apically.
Female. Externally differing from male by simple fore legs and abdominal sternum VII; tergum VII subtriangular, rounded apically.
Variation. Body length (♂ ♀) 3.0– 4.2 mm. Reddish transverse band of elytra more or less distinct, always vaguely outlined; the specimens from Laos mostly darker coloured, with distinct paler band on elytra, entirely matt head and pronotum; the specimens from Vietnam darker coloured, with well-developed setose band of elytra (distinctly denser and coarser, silvery setae). Moderately variable in development of male characters (e.g. prominence of processes of front legs, details of paired prongs).

Differential diagnosis. Anthelephila disparilis sp. nov. is nearly identical with the sympatric A. bifida sp. nov., but differs by the following male characters: profemoral process longer, lateral lobule of protibiae situated more distally, posterior margin of sternum VII emarginate and somewhat more sclerotized, and lateral lobe of paired prongs simple (bifurcate in A. bifida sp. nov.). It may also resemble A. fieberi (Pic, 1900) , which differs by the same characters given under A. bifida sp. nov. (see above).
Etymology. From the Latin disparilis (unequal, variable), refering to variation of male characters.
Distribution. Burma, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam.
Remarks. It is not excluded, that some specimens from Laos, Vietnam, also Thailand, listed under additional material, represent different species or could be possibly treated as geographical subspecies, but more material is needed to evaluate numerous moderate differences of male characters.
The paratypes from Huay Yang and Kaeng Krachan National Parks were previously identified as Formicomus lucidus Krekich-Strassoldo, 1925 or Formicomus castigator LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849 and recorded as such by Uhmann (1994, 2000).
