Micropygomyia (Coquillettimyia) chiapanensis (Dampf) View in CoL : Galati 2003, 33, 82 (list, keys).
In Mexico, this species was known from the states of Chiapas, Guerrero, Michoacán, Sonora, and Yucatán ( Ibáñez-Bernal 2003). Later, Godinez-Alvarez and Ibáñez-Bernal (2010) reported this species for Nayarit, Oaxaca, and Veracruz; in Veracruz it was recorded for El Zapote (Municipality of Tlalixcoyan), Espinal de Santa Bárbara and La Tranca (Municipality of de Soledad de Doblado), and Las Limas (Municipality of Cotaxtla). Here we add some new municipality records for Veracruz. It is interesting to mention that this species was collected in abundance at Farallón (Actopan), apparently associated with Ctenosaura similis Gray 1831 (male black iguana or garrobo) from which the females are probably taking blood meals.
