Range: — Mexico to Panama; Antilles; Colombia to Trinidad-Tobago, Guianas, Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, SC); Brazil.
Ecology: —Uncommon, terrestrial in lowland wet forests; 100–700 m.
Notes: —Related to A. argutum , and similarly scaly on rachises and blades, but with usually 1-pinnate (rarely 2- pinnate at bases) blades, more broadly to species in the group of A. tetraphyllum . Rhizomes short-creeping, nodose; margins of sterile pinnae biserrate; blades abaxially with conspicuous idioblasts between veins; indusia oblong, glabrous or with hairs.
