Type species. Capropodocerus tagamaru gen. et sp. nov., by original designation.
Diagnosis. Podocerids having pereonite 1 cylindrical, longer than the head; pereonite 3 cylindrical, at least twice as long as pereonite 4; and two paired uropods.
Etymology. The genus name (masculine) refers to the caprellid-like shape of the anterior part of the body and podocerid-like shape of the posterior part and is derived from these two family names.
