Replaced name:— Taxilejeunea tenerrima Steph., Sp. Hepat. 406. 1923 (Stephani, 1923). Holotype:— India orientalis (Karnataka, Kudremukh: fide Verma & Srivastava, 2007), s.d. I. Pfleiderer 15408 ( G). Icon. Ined. no. 009772!

Note: Stephani (1923: 406) described Taxilejeunea tenerrima from India orientalis. Verma and Srivastava (2007) unintentionally made a new combination as Lejeunea tenerrima (Steph.) A. Agarwal in Verma & Srivastava (2007: 206) referring to the previous invalidly published combination proposed by A. Agarwal in 1986. This combination is illegitimate as it becomes later homonym of Lejeunea tenerrima ( Nees 1833: 363) Lindenb. in Gottsche et al. (1845: 366) which was based on different type. Hence, a new name Lejeunea kudremukhensis is proposed here for the type of Taxilejeunea tenerrima Steph.

Further, based on the type of Jungermannia sordida var. tenerrima Nees (1833: 363) [Type: Brazil, s.d., C.F.P. Martius s.n. (isotype in G)], the combination Lejeunea tenerrima (Nees) Lindenberg (1845: 366) was made. Stephani (1914) moved this species to Euosmolejeunea , as E. tenerrima (Nees) Stephani (1914: 589) . On the basis of the study of the protologue and unpublished illustration of Euosmolejeunea tenerrima by Stephani (Icon. Ined. no. 002794!) it is clear that this species belongs to Cheilolejeunea (= Euosmolejeunea ; see e.g. Schuster, 1980) rather than Lejeunea . Hence, it becomes necessary to transfer the name Jungermannia sordida var. tenerrima to Cheilolejeunea . As the name Cheilolejeunea tenerrima (Steph.) Bastos (2012: 317) already exists, based on Strepsilejeunea tenerrima Stephani (1913: 286) , the new name Cheilolejeunea neesiana Sushil K. Singh & Pócs , nom. & stat. nov. is proposed as a replacement name for Euosmolejeunea tenerrima (Nees) Steph.
