FEMALE. Total length of holotype female, 8.10 mm. Cephalothorax length 2.9 mm, width 1.9 mm. Abdomen length 5.20 mm, width 2.90 mm. Pedicel length 0.30 mm, width 0.50 mm. Paratype female, total length 8.40 mm.

Carapace. Yellowish brown, distinctly long, 1.53x longer than wide, convex viewed laterally, with a brown M-shaped band running from clypeus and eye area to the posterior cephalothorax. Chelicerae reddish brown, 1.80x longer than wide, short fang.Without promarginal and retromarginal teeth. Labium yellow with light brown basal half, longer than wide, narrow and truncated apically. Maxillae yellow except short black serrula, apically converging. Heart-shaped sternum yellow with pale brown sublateral margins.

Eyes. In three rows of 2-2-4, AER strongly recurved forming 2 rows and approximately 0.6 length of PE row (0.63: 1.05 mm). PER straight to gently recurved. Eye diameter (mm): AME (0.16)> ALE (0.14)> PME = PLE (0.11). Eye separation (mm): ALE-ALE (0.42), ALE-PLE (0.37), PME-PLE (0.39), PME-PLE (0.34)> PME-PME (0.14)> AME- ALE (0.11)> AME-AME (0.09). Clypeus height broad, 1.69x AME diameter at ALE area, and 2.69x AME diameter medially.

Legs.

Uniformly yellow lined with

bristles

and scopulae on ventroapical one-fourth of tibiae I-IV and entire venter of all tarsi. Venter of metatarsus I bears 4 pairs of short spines, three pairs in metatarsus II and two pairs each in metatarsi III and IV. Tarsal claws distinct with 4-5 ventral teeth on the outer claw and 2-4 teeth on the inner claw. Palp concolorous with the legs. Leg formula 1423.

Abdomen. Oblongate, 1.8x longer than wide, grayish brown with a median and two lateral white longitudinal bands, and three pairs of globosesigillae. Spinnerets with distinctly long and large posterior pair, dark brown except whitish yellow basal half.Anterior spinnerets short and small.

Epigynum simple, with a strongly concave

marking connecting the intromittent orifice.

MALE. Unknown.

Material Examined. Holotype female, (coll. no. S0 35) and paratype female (coll. no. S035b), CHINA, Hainan Is. Panja Town, Songtao Reservoir, 0 3 April 2011, AT Barrion, JLA Catindig and SC Villareal.

Diagnostic Features. Cicynethus hongfuchui Barrion, Barrion-Dupo & Heong new species closely resembles the appearance of C. floriumfontis Jocque 1991 from Cape Province, South Africa but easily distinguished from the latter in the (1) uniformly yellow legs without dark stripes, (2) abdomen with a dorsal median and dark brown bands, (3) simple epigynum, (4) AME> ALE, (5) scopulae on ventral tip of tibiae I-IV and entire venter of tarsi I-IV, (6) four pairs of short ventral spines on metatarsus I, three pairs on metatarsi II and two pairs each on metatarsi III and IV, (7) metatarsus IV as long as metatarsus I, and (8) the relatively large posterior spinnerets.

Etymology. Patronym, in honor of Prof. Chu Hongfu in recognition of his outstanding works on the systematics of Chinese Noctuidae (Lepidoptera) .
