Note — Species in the palaeotropical section Odontadenii also have unisexual inflorescences and are therefore more suited to be placed in subgenus Afroswartziani than the neotropical subgenus Swartziani . The species are distinguished form other sections by their winged plagiotropic branchlets ( Brunel & Roux 1981).
