Type locality and specimens. Fort Lauderdale , Florida, USA, 26°09.762'N 80°05.412'W. Holotype, male, 3.1 mm, USNM 1081601 About USNM ; paratypes, male, 2.6 mm, female, 2.9 mm, USNM 1081602 About USNM . GoogleMaps

Material examined. Unmeasured males and females, USNM 1081601, USNM 1081602, JLB Haw 6, JLB Haw 10, MNRJ –8566. Diagnosis based on description by Thomas & Klebba (2006).

Diagnosis. Quadrate anterodistal head margin with cusp. Coxae 1–4 with cuspate anterior and distal margins. Gnathopod 1 carpus narrow, attenuate. Coxa 4 anterodistal margin sharp. Pereopods 5–7 bases narrowly expanded. Epimera 2, 3 ventral margins serrate.

Note. Barnard’s descriptions of Leucothoe tridens (1965, 1970, 1971) agree closely with L. kensleyi . Material borrowed from C. Serejo collected in Brazil also closely agrees with L. kensleyi .

Female (sexually dimorphic characters). Gnathopod 2 propodus with single mediofacial setal row.

Habitat. Coral reefs; 1–20 m.

Host. Sponges: Callyspongia vaginalis , Iotrochota birotulata , and Pseudoceratina crassa .

Distribution. Western Atlantic Ocean: South Florida and the Florida Keys ( Thomas & Klebba 2007), Brazil ( Schellenberg 1938e; Serejo 1998). Caribbean Sea: Belize ( Thomas & Klebba 2007), Panama ( White 2011). Pacific Ocean: Hawaii, Oahu (J.L. Barnard 1965; J.L. Barnard 1970; J.L. Barnard 1971b).
