Scolia (Scolia) erythrocephala Fabricius, 1798
Distribution in the Arabian Peninsula: Kuwait ( Walker & Pittaway 1987; Al-Houty 1989, 2011), Oman ( Pérez 1907; Walker & Pittaway 1987; Monks et al. 2019), Saudi Arabia ( Shalaby 1961; Walker & Pittaway 1987; Gadallah 2004), United Arab Emirates ( Walker & Pittaway 1987; Gillett & Howarth 2004; Gillett & Gillett 2005; Howarth & Gillett 2008).
Extralimital distribution: Africa, Central Europe ( Betrem 1935).
Remarks: Al-Houty (1989: Photo 521) provided a photograph purportedly of this species but which is of a male of S. quadricincta quettaensis (Mokrousov, pers. comm.), a taxon not listed in that work (but see below); whether all of the records from Kuwait reflect such misidentifications, and to what degree, remains uncertain.
