Genus Foliabitus View in CoL View at ENA gen. nov.
Type species: Foliabitus longzhou Zhang & Maddison , sp. nov.
Etymology. The generic name is a combination of the Latin folia (leaf) and habito (dweller), referring to its habitat; masculine in gender.
Diagnosis. Medium sized spiders. Chelicera with two promarginal teeth and one retromarginal tooth ( Figs 23, 25 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ). Abdomen with light colored stripes on dorsum ( Figs 19–20 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ). Embolus of male palp long and coiled for less a circle; proximal tegular lobe relatively small; retrolateral tibial apophysis finger-like ( Figs 21–22 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ). Epigynal window present, with a median septum ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ). Vulva with only one pair of spermathecae ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ). Similar in body form to Donoessus and Colyttus , but differs from them in the presence of light colored stripes on the abdomen ( Figs 19–20 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ); the longer and more coiled embolus, the smaller embolic disc, the indistinct proximal tegular lobe of the male palp ( Figs 21–22 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ); the presence of grooves within the epigynal window ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ).
Remarks. Foliabitus scutigerus ( Żabka, 1985) is transferred to this genus from Laufeia because of its similar male palp structures to the type species: embolus slender and coiled for less a circle, proximal tegular lobe indistinct and retrolateral tibial apophysis finger-like (NEW COMBINATION).
