Diamesa cinerella (Meigen in Gisti, 1835) View in CoL

The species is redescribed by Pagast (1947) and Serra-Tosio (1971b). Species delimitation analysis performed with Cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (Montagna et al. 2016) suggested that the species is close to D. tonsa , but the adult males are morphologically well separable to each other. The species is common in glacial streams but in the winter it is also present at low altitudes, as in Ticino River ( Rossaro & Lencioni 2015a, b).
