A well-known cosmopolitan species found in natural environments from Southeast Asia to North America. In Asia and America it is a normal inhabitant of soils rich in litter and crops, also found in caves. The European citations correspond to soils of gardens, pots and greenhouses, so it is probably an introduced species ( Arbea & Jordana 1988, Fjellberg 1998). The specimen studied here was found in the Basaura cave, in guano of Miniopterus schreibersii View in CoL ( Beruete 2000a, 2000b, Beruete et al. 2002 as O. rectopapillatus View in CoL ).
